About

🧶🦙 All About Me: Powered by Colour and Tea, Fueled by Chaos, Surrounded by Yarn and Ducks.
Because life’s too short for boring hobbies and quiet animals.
🧶✨ It all started with Granny Smith’s legendary knits — picture baby me, waddling around in Granny Smith’s finest hand-knits as a baby burrito. She taught me the wizardry of the needles, and years later, while juggling tea rounds in a care home, I re-learned the art like a woolly phoenix rising from the stash pile.
In 2017, I accidentally fell into the dye pot — and loved it. One experiment led to another, and poof! Xtine’s Xtreme Yarns was born on March 8th, with wild colourways and a band of fabulous yarn rebels rallying behind me. Themed Yarn Boxes? Boom. Subscriptions? You bet. And the community? Absolute magic. They watched the dye pots bubble during my pregnancy, cheered the arrival of Little Ted, and even stitched with yarn dyed by my son Toby (aka Dr Jug, Monkey Boy, or whatever nickname he answers to that day).
Then came Halloween 2019 — the first Advent Calendar, a spooktacular hit full of thrills, chills, and mini skeins that might’ve been cursed (just a little). In 2020, the world paused — but our yarn party didn’t. Market Nights turned into UV rave spinning sessions under blacklights with full-on stitchy chaos.
By mid-2020, I swapped dye pots for Bunsen burners and taught science full-time, teaching curious teens the wonders of the universe and nature by day and dreaming of yarn by night. Four years, endless lesson plans, and one overflowing stress bucket later, I stepped back, grabbed my lab goggles, and returned to the dye pot with renewed fire, better health, and a brand-new studio (cheers to my partner-in-technical-wizardry, Matt!).
My colour-curious clan includes:
- Toby (aka Mr Jug/Dr Jug/Monkey Boy): gentle, nerdy, clever; the mastermind behind many colourway ideas — Magic the Gathering fans, stay tuned!
- Theo (aka Little Ted, Dink, The Dinktator): full-tilt chaos in toddler form, determined to run his own dye empire before he hits double digits.
- Brian & Ralph: our Springer Spaniels — noble, nutty, and Crufts Disobedience Champions .
- Freyja & Lilith: feline queens of sunbeams and Lego destruction.
- Baldrick (cockatiel) & Lord Percy Percy (unhinged conure): feathered drama and background squawks guaranteed.
- Morticia, Wednesday, Astrid & Lydia: our delightfully goth duck squad — bringers of quacks and mood, (yes, ducks. Yes, they have vibes)..
I’m endlessly inspired by colour, science, nature, sci-fi, horror, and the amazing people (like you) who take my yarn and make magic. Xtine’s Xtreme Yarns is more than just fibre — it’s a wonderfully weird community I’m so proud to call home.
Xtine’s Xtreme Yarns is back, brighter, bolder, and geekier than ever. Come join the fun. Share your makes, throw colourway ideas at me, and keep an eye out — the next inspiration might involve tentacles, magic cards, or the mysterious glow of UV alpaca wool…
🦙💥 So follow along, throw wild ideas at me, and tag me in your makes — and let’s turn this fibre fiesta up to warp speed. 🧵💥
🧶💥 Bright Colors, Bold Designs, Quirky Crew — One Big Tangled Yarnventure! 🦙🎨
Because behind every brilliant skein is a squad of colour-loving chaos gremlins (and maybe a duck or four).

Christine Smith
Founder & Lead Dyer
🧶💫 Christine: professional yarn whisperer, colour chemist, chaos coordinator, and founder of Xtine’s Xtreme Yarns — where science and spooky collide with stitchy delight. Raised in Granny Smith’s legendary knits and now flinging UV-reactive rainbows onto skeins like a fibre-fuelled witch, she’s the heart and hustle behind every bold blend.
Equal parts science nerd and horror fan, Christine dyes with the enthusiasm of a caffeinated alpaca and the precision of a lab-coated villain in a rom-com. Mother to a crazy cast of characters (both human, furry and feathery), she’s constantly dreaming up new colourways, battling rogue yarn tangles, and duck-wrangling in between dye baths.
If it’s bright, oddball, inspired by atoms or aliens, or just a bit mischievous — chances are, it’s Christine-made. 🦙⚡

Matt Smith
Tech Support and Provider of Tea
🧑💻🔧 Matt: resident tech wrangler, tea sommelier, button presser, and certified fixer-of-things-that-shouldn’t-be-smoking. He’s the quiet force behind Xtine’s Xtreme Yarns — part support squad, part creative conspirator, and 100% responsible for turning “uh-oh” into “all sorted” with a few clicks and the occasional wizard-level soldering.
Armed with a mug of something hot and an enthusiasm for learning new tricks (he’s been known to teach himself entire crafts just for fun), Matt brings calm to the chaos and wires to the wi-fi. He’s the reason the dye pots keep boiling, the website doesn’t implode, and Christine has time to chase yarn, ducks and inspiration alike. 🦙💻☕

Theo Smith
Business Manager (according to him!)
🧶⚡ Theo (aka Little Ted, Dink, The Dinktator, Commander of Chaos): small in size, colossal in personality. This pint-sized whirlwind is part yarn apprentice, part mischief maestro, and 100% committed to maximum fun with minimal regard for tidy skeins.
He’s the kind of kid who believes every colourway needs “more colour!”, every duck deserves a title, and every dye session should include at least one dramatic entrance. Often spotted wielding a mixing spoon like a magic wand or bossing around alpacas in his daydream kingdom.
He’s got opinions, ambition, and a glittering future as either a dye master, a comic book villain, or both. Frequently seen zooming through yarn piles, shouting colour names that may or may not exist, and auditioning ducklings for side quests. 🦙🎨⚡
Basically: if it’s loud, wild, or covered in yarn fuzz, there’s a 97% chance Theo’s involved.

Toby Smith
Well can’t include one son and not the other!!
🧠📚 Toby (aka Mr Jug, Dr Jug, Toby Jug, or Monkey Boy — titles subject to quest progression) is the silent sorcerer of skeinspiration. A walking fantasy and sci-fi compendium, he conjures colourway concepts straight from the scrolls of imagination — think “Potion of Chaotic Neutral,” “Mossbeard’s Beard Oil,” “Shadowfax at Sunrise,” or “Library of Forgotten Spells.”
While others see yarn, he sees realms — glowing caverns in rich purples, enchanted forests in mossy greens, and arcane auras in shimmering silvers. He’s currently prepping to begin his next epic at university, but his mind’s already galloping ahead like a caffeine-fuelled centaur with a thesis on dragon taxonomy.
Quiet, clever, and occasionally cryptic, Toby’s the kind of creative ally whose ideas sneak up on you — and then turn into your next best-seller.
